WWII Disrupted Curriculum
Students likely to be called to military service received their degrees if they had completed half the work of the term. Meanwhile, remaining students with at least 12 hours of arts and science were admitted to the School so that they were more readily available to take journalism positions vacated because of the war.
Journalism training continued despite the war. (Clockwise from top) Sailors congregated around the journalism arch with University students; students practiced skills to fill journalism jobs; the number of students flowing in and out of Neff Hall decreased; and the 1942 J-Week focused on war.
