The Missouri Fax newspaper was one of only three publications in the United States to offer facsimile transmission of news content. Receivers were located in Read Hall, the University Library, Jay H. Neff Hall and the Columbia Savings Bank. The advent of commercial television put an end to the Missouri Fax in the early 1950s.
A noon edition of the Missouri Fax was broadcast daily using equipment on loan from the St. Louis Star Times (top). Journalism Week 1947 presenter Elliot Crooks demonstrated facsimile news content to guests (bottom).
