As the nation emerged from the effects of war,
the School enjoyed a decade of innovation. KOMU-TV revolutionized broadcast journalism training just before the School celebrated its 50th anniversary. A National Press Club ceremony, the Freedom of Information Center dedication and the World Press Congress were highlights of the School's golden year.

KOMU made its debut on Dec. 21 as the only university-owned commercial affiliate television station used to train students.
