School Celebrated 50th Anniversary
|
The School celebrated its 50th anniversary with a year full of activities, including the 1958 Association for Education in Journalism convention; the "Freedom of the Press" commemorative stamp ceremony; a public relations conference; a Washington, D.C., dinner honoring the 50th anniversaries of the School, the National Press Club and Sigma Delta Chi; a VIP lecture series; and several other major events.
Promotional materials for the 50th anniversary included commemorative envelopes, stickers, stamps, mugs and dishes (top). John H. Johnson, founder and publisher of EBONY and JET magazines, was part of the VIP lecture series (center, left). Dean Earl English presided over a celebration at the National Press Club (center, right). Greek organizations also celebrated the 50th with a skit (bottom).
