Missourian Produced First Local Account of Kennedy Assassination
The Columbia Missourian made a late press run to carry a full front page of information about President Kennedy's assassination. Debating on whether to drop a single bulletin into the front page or remake it and risk a late run and delivery, Professor William Bickley decided to scrap the page and gather the information from Dallas. An extra page make-over was needed to carry new information, pictures and local reactions.
Students not only provided local coverage of the Kennedy assassination, but also observed the differences in the headlines.
