Moon Landing Wrapped Up Decade of Headlines
|
The Columbia Missourian produced its first extra in 24 years when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon on July 20, 1969. It was one of the last major headlines of the tumultuous decade, which saw the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert Kennedy; the social unrest of the civil rights movement; and the escalation of the Vietnam War.
The Columbia Missourian extra for the moon landing in July 1969 was one of many major headlines during the decade.
