Lee Hills Hall Dedicated
|
Lee Hills Hall was dedicated on April 18, 1995, as the new home for the Columbia Missourian and the magazine and photojournalism sequences. Funded by gifts of approximately $5 million, the building honored Lee Hills, a former Missouri Journalism student who eventually became first president of Knight Ridder news service.
The Lee Hills Hall dedication crowd flowed onto Elm Street in 1995 (top). Construction began in 1993 (top right). One special feature was the Marvin D. McQueen (BJ '36) Memorial Rotunda (center), which served as a reminder that advertising fuels a free press. Hills posed in front of the new hall that bears his name (lower right).
