2004
Walter Williams Scholars Program Established

 
The Walter Williams Scholars program, in honor of the School's founding dean, was established to recruit high-achieving incoming freshman (minimum ACT score of 33; SAT, 1460) to the Missouri School of Journalism. The School enrolled 40 Scholars in 2004; by 2008 the number grew to more than 200.

Named for the School's founding dean (top), Walter Williams Scholars received numerous benefits offered by the School. Pictured are the 2006 (center) and 2007 (bottom) Scholars.
