Plan an EventNames and Contact Information for Graduates from Your Class
The Mizzou Alumni Association offers a free reunion planning service for MAA members that will help you contact former classmates. Call the MAA office at 573-882-6611 to reach a staff member, who will be able to send you a reunion planning guide, assist your group in an advisory capacity, answer questions, find campus contacts and make recommendations. For members, the MAA also will provide postcard design and postage, mailing lists and labels, publicity, event supplies and more. Visit the MAA Reunion Services Web page for complete information.
MizzouNet, an Online Community MizzouNet is a free social networking service similar to Facebook and MySpace provided by the Mizzou Alumni Association. It can be an easy way for all of your peers to connect online from anywhere in the world. Alumni can share pictures and information about themselves, set up events and meetings, send messages and the like. To visit with someone about MizzouNet, please contact the Mizzou Alumni Association toll-free at 800-372-6822.
Scheduling Your Event during the Celebration
The evening of Thursday, Sept. 11, will be an open night for alumni and guests to enjoy class reunions, group gatherings and other social opportunities. One activity to consider: The Tiger Twilight Festival, an annual celebration of Mizzou pride, will be held in downtown Columbia. Another opportunity is the home football game against Nevada scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13. Download the MU Athletics order form to purchase tickets in the Missouri Journalism block, or call 573-882-0362 for more ticket information. [More]
Potential Sites for Your Get-Together
Through the Mizzou Alumni Association's free reunion planning service for MAA members, a staff member can help you decide on a location and other logistics for your event. Visit the MAA Reunion Services Web page for complete information. Another resource is the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau Web site, which has lists of restaurants, hotels, parks and other locations that might serve as a gathering place for your group. The Bureau can also help you customize your event to fit your needs. Almost all of the meeting rooms on the MU campus are reserved for our centennial and dedication activities or for regularly scheduled classes, so you should plan an off-campus event. To visit with a CVB representative about your event, please call 800-652-0987.
Publicizing Your Event
The following options are available to help you publicize your event.
2008 Web Site: The School launched a Web site dedicated to the 2008 centennial/dedication activities in December 2007. A sample entry for reunions and group gatherings might be as follows: "Class of 1963. For more information, contact name, e-mail address, phone." Send your reunion information to jour2008@missouri.edu.
MizzouNet: In addition to information about your event, you can exchange messages and other news with one another via this online social networking system.
Mizzou Alumni Association Events Calendar: You can include your event on the Mizzou Alumni Association's online events calendar. To see sample entries, please visit http://www.mizzou.com/ and click on "Events Calendar." Visit the MAA Reunion Services Web page for publicity services offered to MAA members.
MizzouMafia Listserv: This independent listserv reaches Missouri Journalism alumni about alumni connections, jobs and other topics of interest. Contact
