Nathaniel Patten Jr. published The Missouri Intelligencer and Boon's Lick Advertiser in 1819 in the Missouri river town of Franklin, near present-day Boonville, Mo. Sixty years later, Walter Williams, founding dean of the Missouri School of Journalism, began his rise to journalism fame in Boonville.
