One of the best-known and most widely published poets in the world, Yevgeny Yevtushenko will perform "The Lead Honorarium," a commissioned poem he wrote in honor of the centennial of the Missouri School of Journalism and the dedication of the Reynolds Journalism Institute. The poem, to be presented in both Russian and English, will be included in the limited-edition commemorative book package to be published in late 2008.

A fourth-generation descendant of Ukrainians exiled to Siberia, Yevgeny Yevtushenko has written 19 epic poems, two novels and thousands of short poems. He gained international fame in 1961 with "Babi Yar," in which he denounced Nazi and Russian anti-Semitism. Composer Dmitri Shostakovich set his Symphony No. 13 to this poem. Yevtushenko recently celebrated his 75th birthday. He has toured more than 90 countries, and his poetry has been translated into more than 70 languages. Yevtushenko is a recipient of many honors, including the highest decoration in Russia "For the Great Achievements for Motherland" in 2004.
