Dan Migala, BJ '96, was named vice president, partnership solutions, for the San Diego Padres, effective Oct. 28.  Added: Nov. 9, 2009

Charles Pugh, Jour '93, will lead the Detroit City Council as the newly elected council president.  Added: Nov. 6, 2009

Dan Mihalopoulos, BJ '96, who has covered City Hall for the Chicago Tribune since 2003, will lead the Chicago News Cooperative's coverage of city government as it produces news content for The New York Times beginning in November. CNC is a new multi-platform news venture that will offer public service reporting about Chicago for The New York Times, the city's public television station and on the Internet.  Added: Oct. 28, 2009

Brad Reagan, MA '99, and Alison Mitchell were married Oct. 17 at the Millbrook Vineyards and Winery in Millbrook, N.Y. Reagan is a staff writer at Smart Money magazine and a co-author of three books, including Aces & Kings: Inside Stories and Million-Dollar Strategies of Poker's Greatest Players.  Added: Oct. 19, 2009

The Dow Jones Newspaper Fund named Paul Kandell, MA '92, of Palo Alto (Calif.) Senior High School the 2009 National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year. Kandell advises the Online Pacemaker and Webby-winning Paly Voice and Verde, a 72-page newsmagazine. In addition to original content, his student staff at The Paly Voice produces a Web site which contains material from three other journalism teachers' classes and publications. Kandell will accept his award at the November National High School Journalism convention in Washington, D.C. He has been advising media for 13-1/2 years. Kandell has been a stringer for Newsweek and taught journalism and English at Lowell High School in San Francisco for four years before arriving at Palo Alto in 2000.  Added: Sept. 14, 2009

Matthew J. Beem, BJ '91, has been named president and chief operating officer of Hartsook Companies, Inc. in Kansas City. Beem has played a key leadership role in the full-service international fundraising consulting firm since joining it in 2001.  Added: Sept. 8, 2009

Ni'Cole Gipson, BJ '92, is an independent public relations and communications consultant (NGPR) for a variety of brands including TV networks, executive producers and talent, as well a variety of consumer brands.  Added: Aug. 20, 2009

Todd Natenberg, BJ '91, and Reena Berger married recently. The bride, a native of Montreal, is a professor of piano at Pittsburg State University in Kansas. The groom, a native of Chicago, is an award-winning strategic sales professional and author of the book "I just got a job in sales! Now what?" The couple live in Leawood, Kan.  Added: Aug. 18, 2009

Kate Newton Anthony, MA '91, BS '83 (home economics) recently won a special merit award in the magazine design category in the 2008-2009 CASE (Council for the Advancement of Secondary Education) III awards competition. She and photographer Steve Exum won for a photo and layout of the opening spread of "Earning His Stripes," a profile of Holden Thorp, who became chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008. Anthony is the art director of the UNC general alumni association magazine, Carolina Alumni Review. She also won an award of excellence in the same competition in partnership with illustrator Maria Rendon for an illustration and layout for "Outnumbered," an article about a new course numbering system at UNC-CH. Anthony won CASE awards in 2005 and 2004.  Added: Aug. 13, 2009

Sonya Forte Duhé, PhD '93, is the new director of the Loyola University New Orleans School of Mass Communication in the College of Social Sciences. Duhé was most recently a faculty member at the University of South Carolina in Columbia in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications and an affiliated faculty member in the university's School of the Environment.  Added: Aug. 5, 2009

Sorim Chung, BJ '93, MA '95, is currently working as the marketing director for the Asian media group JMnet. Previously, she was in charge of international brand marketing at various consumer brands including Nike and BMG Music.  Added: Aug. 4, 2009

Brett Austin, BJ '93, is the coordinating producer for SportsCenter on ESPN in Bristol, Conn.  Added: July 27, 2009

Sarah Hill, BJ '93, and Scott Schaefer, BJ '04, have won a national Edward R. Morrow Award in the feature reporting category for "The Magic Tree," part of the "Sarah's Stories" series. The Radio-Television News Directors Association, the industry's leading trade organization, sponsors the competition. Both Hill and Schaefer serve as adjunct professors at the Missouri School of Journalism and work at KOMU-TV.  Added: July 20, 2009

Jane Singer, PhD '96, was selected as the winner of the "Future of Journalism" contest sponsored by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. She will work with United Press International editors to produce her winning entry, "Bird's-eye View." In addition, Singer won complimentary registration to the organization's 2009 convention in Boston. She serves as both the Johnson Press Chair in Digital Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom and as an associate professor at the University of Iowa.  Added: July 20, 2009

Beverly Crowell, BJ '91, founded Crowell Consulting in 2007. She specializes in the areas of strategic planning, professional development, and behavioral-based coaching and training programs.  Added: June 25, 2009

John Mummert, BJ '95, oversees all of the photography needs of the U.S. Golf Association, serving as senior staff photographer and manager of photographic services. He lives in Clinton Township, N.J., with his wife Donna and their Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Cayman.  Added: May 26, 2009

Sonya Duhe, PhD '93, has been named director of the School of Mass Communication at Loyola University in New Orleans. While she worked on her doctorate at MU, Duhe was the anchor of the nightly news at KOMU.  Added: May 1, 2009
