Name: Nicole Thibault
Degree and Year: MA '86 (Broadcast News)
Company: The Weather Channel
Company Web Site: http://www.weather.com/
Title: Senior Producer
City and State: Atlanta, Ga.

Describe The Weather Channel:
The Weather Channel is like a "weather city" filled with scientists who have a passion for meteorology, and broadcast professionals who take that passion and translate it into good TV. It's the only television outlet of its kind.

How did you get your job?
Through a headhunter who contacted me.

Describe an average work day.
A weather briefing followed by a graphics meeting. Format work, writing, supervising.

What is the best professional lesson you learned from Mizzou's J-School?
Networking is key.

What advantages did attending the J-School give you, that other job applicants didn't have?
Immediate job offers. Personal confidence that I could walk into any environment and produce a good show.

Do you have any advice for current J-School students?
Enjoy your time at Mizzou. Make contacts that will last a lifetime. Maintain your integrity. Read everything. Be well-rounded in your knowledge. Work at the craft of writing. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn every facet of journalism, even the aspects you have no intention of using in your career path.

Describe the current state of your professional life.
I'm ready for a new challenge!

In your opinion, what is your biggest professional accomplishment?
Helping others find their niche and succeed. Being voted Employee of the Year while I was an Executive Producer - an honor voted me by my peers station-wide.
