The Missouri School of Journalism offers networking through professional programs, affiliations, faculty and alumni to ensure that graduates find jobs that match their career goals. The Journalism Career Center sends a weekly e-mail update to students about internships, career fairs and recruiter visits that help students network in their field. The Career Center also offers tips on landing your first job, including:
InternshipsMany recruiters and media organizations expect prospective employees to have at least one internship on their resume when they graduate. Internships give students the chance to work as professionals in the field, often helping them choose among various career paths. The hands-on experience that Missouri Journalism students receive at the Columbia Missourian, KOMU, KBIA, Vox or Mojo Ad gives them an edge when applying for highly competitive internships. The Journalism Career Center offers several career fairs throughout the year that unite recruiters with students looking for jobs and internships.
