  Missouri Journalism Centennial Timeline Presents the 1940s
The School survived World War II with a drop in enrollment, no graduate programs and an accelerated curriculum that sent students out into a world that needed them. Near war's end, the photojournalism program flourished, and advances in technology and the curriculum produced students with new skills in radio, public relations and facsimile news transmission. Centennial Biography:
Dean Frank L. Mott

Pulitzer Prize-winning scholar Dr. Frank Luther Mott succeeded Frank L. Martin as dean of the Missouri School of Journalism in August of 1942, just a few months after the United States entered World War II. Before arriving in Missouri, Mott was an English professor and director of the journalism school at The University of Iowa. As a former newspaper editor with a doctoral education, Mott brought with him both extensive experience in journalism and a wide-ranging scholarly and intellectual mind. [More]

 
 
Registration to Open in Late April
The official registration packet for the Sept. 10-12 Missouri School of Journalism Centennial and Reynolds Journalism Institute Dedication will be mailed in late April. An online registration system also will be available through the MU Conference Office. Keep checking the 2008 Centennial/Dedication Web Site for more information.
