MARY LAWRENCE has nearly 20 years in the newspaper business. She was an award-winning editorial writer and columnist for The Indianapolis News before moving to Europe to work on the copy desk of The Stars and Stripes and then The Wall Street Journal Europe. Lawrence was managing editor of The Geauga Times Leader in Chardon, Ohio, and later for The Marion Star in her hometown of Marion, Ohio. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in journalism from Ohio State University.
