Vox is an award-winning weekly city magazine that appears in the Columbia Missourian newspaper and is distributed throughout the city of Columbia.

The 2005 student magazine competition attracted a record 251 entries from 26 universities from the United States and Canada. Judges for the contest, which included 11 categories, were publishers, editors and writers for consumer and specialized business magazines.

"We are thrilled to have had so many of our feature stories recognized this year. It's a great testament to the work the students do in our writing classes," said Jennifer Moeller, an assistant magazine journalism professor who serves as editorial director for Vox.

The 2005 AEJMC Student Magazine Contest categories and winners are:

  • Consumer Magazine Article: People
    • Second Place: "Roadside Respects," by Drew Bratcher
    • Honorable Mention: "Surviving the Guilt," by James Carlson
