Doctoral Program Application

Note: This application supplements the application for admission to the MU Graduate School.

All documents (application forms, transcripts, resume, recommendations and GRE scores) must be received by the school’s graduate studies center before the deadline. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered by the doctoral admissions committee. Deadlines for application are:

  • Fall Semester: Dec. 15
  • Spring Semester: Sept. 1

Submitting Your Completed Application

Along with this completed form, the following documents also must be submitted electronically. Please note that the graduate studies center no longer accepts paper applications.

  • A curriculum vitae, which provides a summary of your employment and academic activities.
(Because we require a minimum of two years full-time experience, your CV must include detailed information – job titles, dates, employers – about your professional media work.)
  • A statement of doctoral program objectives. Discuss your reasons for pursuing a doctoral degree and why you think the Missouri program is suited to your objectives and your research interests, particularly as they relate to you being a doctoral student and your long-term employment goals. The statement should be 500 to 1,000 words in length.
  • A 500-word abstract of your master’s thesis (or thesis proposal, if your thesis is not yet complete).

Instructions

UPLOAD this completed application, your statement of doctoral objectives and your thesis abstract into the University of Missouri Graduate School application known as ApplyYourself; letters of recommendation should be uploaded by those who are writing your letters.

MAIL the following items to the address below:

  • Two sets of official transcripts from all universities/colleges you have attended.
  • Official exam scores.
  • Copy of “Green Card” if a Permanent Resident Alien.
