Degree Time Limit

Degree Time Limit

According to university rules, students have eight years to complete the degree. The semester of first enrollment in the journalism graduate program is the starting point of the time limit. The MU Graduate School is the only body that can grant extensions on the time limit. Extensions to the time limit are rare. Doctoral students are allowed one year after passing comprehensive exams to submit and gain approval of the dissertation proposal. After that, students are allowed two years of continuous enrollment to research and write the dissertation.
