Scholastic Requirements

Scholastic Requirements

To graduate, the university requires that students earn a grade average of at least 3.0. The School of Journalism requirements are more stringent: Doctoral students are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5. Only graduate-level grades are used to compute grade points. Students must earn either an A or B grade in JOURN 9010 Doctoral Seminar to be allowed to continue in the program. If the cumulative GPA falls below 3.5 or a semester GPA is less than 3.0, the student will be placed on probation and indication of that noted on the file. The probation may be continued for a second semester on the recommendation by the adviser to the associate dean of graduate studies.
