Graduate students are assigned a faculty adviser at the beginning of their first semester of study, based on the student’s professional area of interest. However, students may change their adviser assignment. Only members of the journalism graduate faculty may serve as advisers.
Students may change advisers at any time before the thesis/project proposal is approved. After that, changes may be made only with the expressed permission of the adviser and the associate dean. A change in adviser or area of study must be documented with a change of adviser form. This form is available on the MU Graduate School’s website.
Additional information about the choosing a faculty adviser is available on the MU Graduate Studies website.
