SCOTT SCHAEFER, BJ ’04, is an Emmy award-winning photojournalist at KOMU-TV, the broadcast lab for the Missouri School of Journalism. He also serves as live-truck operator for KOMU and as adjunct faculty for the School.

His duties include shooting franchise pieces such as “Sarah’s Stories,” “Coverage from Callaway,” “8 on Your Side” and “Stretching Your Dollar.” Schaefer also shoots for “Friday Night Football” and “This Week in Mizzou Football,” and has freelanced for NBC Sports.com, Bloomberg, FSN and Entertainment Tonight.

Schaefer assists students with all aspects of their reporting and helps them prepare stories for newscasts. He plays the piano and organ and has worked as organist for the St. Louis Cardinals. Schaefer’s numerous awards for photography include nine Mid-America Emmys, six Regional Edward R. Murrow awards, the Society of Professional Journalists’ National Sigma Delta Chi award for documentaries in television journalism, a 2009 National Edward R. Murrow award for feature reporting and the 2010 NAB Service to America Award for his work with KOMU in support of the Central Missouri Honor Flight. Scott is a member of the National Press Photographers Association.
