Honors College Eligibility

Incoming freshmen, current MU students and transfer students may be eligible for admissions to the Honors College. Interested persons should contact the Honors College.

Maintaining Honors College Eligibility

The Honors College requires students to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students are required to take two honors courses of their choice per year for their first two years to remain in the Honors College.

Honors Courses Recommendations

The Journalism School highly recommends completing the honors humanities sequence, GN HON 2111H - 2114H. Completion of this sequence plus any other humanistic studies course will fulfill both the lower-division and upper-division humanistic studies requirements, including the American or British literature requirement.

Honors Certificate

To be awarded an honors certificate, students must take 20 hours of honors credit.

Honors Courses and Degree Requirements

Students may use honors courses to satisfy degree requirements throughout their tenure at MU. These 20 hours must be completed one semester prior to graduation in order to receive an invitation to the Honors Convocation.
