“I had a teacher in my undergrad who told me to be my own best advocate. I kind of take that to heart. I’ve found that if you want to make your own way through your experiences like grad school or college, you have to be willing to put yourself out there and to use your own expertise or knowledge or skills to sell yourself rather than hoping for other people to assist you. If you can’t sell yourself, then why would you expect other people to do it for you?”
