Letter from the Student Editors
Current J-School News
As student editors of The J-School Magazine, the three of us are at different points in our graduate school careers. One of us has finished his first semester; one has finished her first year; and one has finished the program.

As we worked with each other and the students in the Public Relations Writing course, we have learned much about our impressive J-School community, from students to distinguished alumni.

This edition of The J-School Magazine shares some of their interesting stories.

Some of the School's alumni become leaders in public relations and advertising agencies or climb the ranks in corporate communications.

Others have or are currently serving as president of top journalism organizations. Read about the three most recent Missouri Press Association presidents, or take a look at alumni presidents of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Alumni and professors pursue their passion for food. Some take their multimedia skills to the screen as TV photographers. Others decided to pursue a different path and now design loungewear, cover poker or serve as an oiler on a ship.

One writer's article took her on a journey to talk with alumni living and working off of I-20 in the southeast part of the U.S.

But we would be remiss if we didn't write about the amazing things our students do, too.

Read about the outstanding Kaplan Fellows as we mark the 20th anniversary of the program, or learn how some students combine work and leadership opportunities with their studies.

Summer journalism workshops give high school students a taste of the work of reporters and editors.

Finally, take the J-School quiz to test your knowledge of the diverse organizations and programs based at the School.

Thanks to the hardworking students of the spring 2013 Public Relations Writing course, we are able to publish this issue of The J-School Magazine.

Enjoy the issue, and if you have a suggestion, comment or story idea, don't hesitate to let us know at
