What do you do?
Presently retired after a career that included the St. Louis Suburban Journals and a long career in the local business newspaper realm. Was founding general manager of the St. Louis Business Journal in 1980, leading to a primary role in founding seven more business journals and the turnaround of three others. Founded Inside Collin County Business, north of Dallas, in 1994. Received several business and journalism awards. Sold in 2008.

What is the best professional lesson you learned at the J-School?
Be accurate and meet the deadline.

What advice do you have for current students?
Learn, but also be part of the world around you. Get quality internships.

What is your favorite J-School memory?
Working summer session in 1966 during the L.A. riots. And working the story about amassing the land for what is now Rock Bridge Park.
