Brenda Edgerton-Webster, MA ’03, PhD ’07, won first place in the Innovative Outreach to Scholastic Journalism competition for her service-learning project called “Current Events via the College-to-High School News Exchange & Drill Session.” She serves as an assistant professor of mass communication in the department of communications at Xavier University of Louisiana. The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Scholastic Journalism Division hosts the annual contest to provide national awareness of top programs and to encourage other higher education media programs to support high school journalism.
