Richard M. Cottam, BJ ’55
Richard M. Cottam, BJ ’55, died Dec. 24, 2011, aged 81. Cottam served in the Marines during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart decoration. He was an instructor at the Missouri School of Journalism from 1956 to 1963, and co-hosted “Conversations with Dick and Doris” on KFRU from 1961 to 1963. Cottam was an associate producer for NBC News’ “Huntley-Brinkley Report” from 1963 to 1967 in Chicago and worked for the NBC News Election Unit from 1967 to 1971. He was also an instructor at Wichita State University School of Journalism from 1971-1974. Cottam is survived by his daughter, Christine Susan Cottam.
