Syd Hayman, BJ ’14, has been selected as one of six fellows in the Society of Professional Journalists’ Dori Maynard Diversity Leadership Program for 2017. Program fellows receive grants to attend SPJ’s 2017 Excellence in Journalism conference in Anaheim, California, in September. After graduating from Mizzou with a degree in magazine publishing and management, Hayman spent more than two years serving on a number of staffs within the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as a copy editor and writer. Hayman, who now works with a multicultural communications agency, is a board member with SPJ’s Arkansas Pro Chapter.
