Pius Njawe
Pius Noumeni Njawe’ is the publisher of Le Messager, the most important newspaper in Cameroon and one of the most influential throughout the rest of French-speaking Africa. Before founding Le Messager at age 22, Njawe’ worked at Semences Africaines, a paper founded by the famous Cameroonian writer Rene’ Philome. It was closed down by the government. Indeed, harassment from the police and the court system, political and economic pressure, censorship, kidnapping death threats, jail and exile have all been part of Njawe’s daily life during his courageous career as a journalist.
