Anna Spidel is a proud Michigander hailing from Dexter, Michigan. A Spartan at heart, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Michigan State University in May 2022. Anna joined KBIA News as a health reporter in February of 2023, and began teaching at the Missouri School of Journalism the following August. She also works with regional reporting collaborative Side Effects Public Media. Previously, she worked with NPR member station Michigan Radio as an assistant producer on Stateside. 

When she is not reporting, producing, or teaching, Anna can be found exploring Missouri’s great outdoors, making terrible pottery, dining at local bars and restaurants, and spending time with her partner, Cameron. Anna also loves camping, enjoying Michigan’s beautiful Great Lakes beaches, and spending time with her family and friends. She is always overjoyed to meet another Spartan and will never fail to respond to a “Go Green.” 

Anna is thrilled to be working with the Missouri School of Journalism and KBIA and can’t wait to keep discovering all the wonderful things Columbia has to offer. M-I-Z!
