Ian McKenzie

Ian McKenzie is a first-year doctoral student at the Missouri School of Journalism. His academic interests include media history and sociology, specifically looking at how the evolution of media technology is connected to the evolution of journalism practices.

Ian holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism as well as a master’s degree in global mass communication from Universität Leipzig in Germany.

Ian previously reported for various local news outlets, including the (Batavia, Ohio) Clermont Sun, the Kennebec (August, Maine) Journal, and the Cincinnati Enquirer. He was also previously a life sciences media relations expert for Real Chemistry, one of the biggest US public relations agencies.

In his spare time, Ian enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors and playing bass.
