Karen Steger works in the deans’ office, providing support to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies. She also serves as the School’s graduate outcomes administrator, provides oversight for the administration of accreditation data/reporting, and works with student organizations to receive funding for events and travel. Karen plans/coordinates events such as the Welcome Week involvement fair, and enjoys using her creativity to design promotional items for recruitment and various events.
Prior to joining the journalism school, Karen worked at Mizzou (Missouri) Online in student support services, assisting online instructors and students with the completion and administration of self-paced courses. Prior to that, she worked in undergraduate research as a program assistant for the NIH-funded IMSD program, which helps to encourage underrepresented minority students to pursue a career in biomedical research.
Karen, a graduate of MU’s College of Education, started her career as an elementary school teacher and high school swim coach in North Carolina for 8 years before returning to Missouri to ultimately seek out employment at the University.
In her free time, you can find Karen working on new items for her Etsy shop or, more likely, writing about Mizzou sports for Rock M Nation and cheering on the Tigers with entirely too much enthusiasm. Have a question about Mizzou Athletics? Karen’s got you covered.
