Undergraduate Studies, Adjunct

Assistant to Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies

120 Neff Hall Columbia, MO 65211

Karen Steger works in the dean’s office, providing support to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies. She also serves as the School’s graduate outcomes administrator, internship coordinator, and co-scheduler for 25Live. She provides oversight for the administration of accreditation data/reporting and works with our student organizations to receive funding for events and travel. Karen also plans/coordinates events such as the Welcome Week involvement fair and enjoys using her creativity to design promotional items for recruitment and various events. Additionally, she is in charge of sharing information with our undergraduates weekly in her Midweek Opportunities announcement in Canvas. Starting SP24, Karen will be an adjunct instructor for J1050: Public Relations & Image Management for Non-Majors.

Prior to joining the journalism school, Karen worked at Mizzou (Missouri) Online in student support services, assisting online instructors and students with the self-paced course completion and administration. Before that, she worked in undergraduate research as a program assistant for the NIH-funded IMSD program, which encouraged underrepresented minority students to pursue careers in biomedical research.

Karen, a graduate of MU’s College of Education, started her career as an elementary school teacher and state champion high school swim coach in the Charlotte, North Carolina area before returning to Missouri to ultimately seek out employment at the University.

In her free time, you can find Karen working on new items for her Etsy shop or shopping for new Jordans. Most often you’ll find her writing about Mizzou sports for Rock M Nation and cheering on the Tigers with entirely too much enthusiasm. Have a question about Mizzou Athletics? Karen’s got you covered.
