Matt Garrett
KOMU 8 General Manager
Matt Garrett is the General Manager of KOMU 8 and Mid-Missouri’s CW. With a career spanning more than three decades at KOMU 8, Matt has held multiple roles since joining the station in 1995, building experience in media management, marketing, and operations.
Matt is deeply committed to community engagement and has served in leadership capacities for numerous organizations, including the Heart of Missouri United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Missouri, The Youzeum, the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, CrimeStoppers and Job Point. He also was instrumental in launching the Chamber’s Emerging Professionals in Columbia initiative as its founding co-chair.
His dedication to professional development is reflected in his completion of several distinguished leadership programs: Columbia Chamber of Commerce Leadership Columbia (2003), The University of Missouri Chancellor’s Emerging Leadership Program (2012), The University of Missouri President’s Administrative Leadership Development Program (2014) and the National Association of Broadcasters Executive Development Program for Radio & Television (2017). Matt’s contributions have been recognized by the business community, earning him a place in the Columbia Business Times’ 40 Under 40 Class of 2005.
Earlier is his career, Matt worked as a freelance videographer for ABC Sports, ESPN, and the Mizzou Sports Network, gaining valuable experience in live production and storytelling.
