Md Saddam Hossain

Doctoral Student

Md Saddam Hossain is a doctoral student and graduate research assistant at the Missouri School of Journalism. He earned his master’s degree in Communication from the University of Wyoming in the United States. Prior to that, he graduated from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, with a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism.

As a doctoral student in journalism, Saddam’s research focuses on media sociology, health communication, and alternative media. He is passionate about exploring issues that influence journalism practices and how people deal with health misinformation.

His journalism career began during his student years as a Dhaka University Reporter. Before moving to the U.S., he worked as a staff reporter for Bangladesh’s top newspaper, the Daily Prothom Alo. He specializes in reporting on urban planning and management. He has written numerous investigative reports exposing irregularities and corruption in this area. His reports on urban facilities highlight various aspects of city dwellers’ lives, including living standards, deprivation, suffering, harassment, and more—topics that capture his attention as a journalist.

Many of his reports have received widespread praise and appreciation, significantly impacting governance and people’s lives, leading to changes in practices, especially in promoting transparency and accountability.
