International Freshmen and Transfer Students
Welcome to the World’s Journalism School. New international and transfer students whose primary language is not English are required to meet specific criteria to pursue the Bachelor of Journalism degree. English-language proficiency – both written and oral – is basic to the work of journalists and strategic communicators.
Directly Admitted Students
- Have a composite ACT score of 29 or combined SAT score of 1350 (1290 pre-March 2016) or are in the top 10 percent of their high school graduation class.
- Meet minimum University of Missouri admission requirements.
- Meet Mizzou’s English language requirement for international transfer students.
- Students transferring from another college or university must have a minimum transfer GPA of 3.0.
Pre-Journalism Students
- Do not meet the minimum criteria listed above for direct admission.
- Meet minimum University of Missouri admission requirements.
- Minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper-based score of 550 or minimum TOEFL electronic score of 80 or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) band score of 6.5 with minimum section scores of 6.
- Students transferring from another college or university must have a minimum transfer GPA of 2.75.
