What do you do?

I’m the author of Strategic Content Design: Tools and Research Techniques for Better UX (Rosenfeld Media, 2023). I’m a Seattle-based content strategist who’s worked for Microsoft, Expedia, and Amazon.

How did you get your job?

My career has evolved from book publishing to newspaper and magazine journalism to digital media and product design. I got my first big break as an editorial lead at Amazon, writing book reviews and interviewing authors for the site.

What is the best professional lesson you learned at the J-School?

I attended the J-School while working full-time and raising a family, which was a huge challenge. It required a lot of tenacity and bravery (the statistics section of my thesis in particular!). I’m forever indebted to Sarah Smith-Frigerio for her support and encouragement.

What advice do you have for current students?

Reach out and connect! I am always happy to connect with fellow Mizzou grads and provide career guidance or referrals.

What is your favorite J-School memory?

The on-campus seminars!
