What do you do?
I am currently in the process of forming my own video production company and am teaching at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke. I also serve on the board of the Southern Documentary Fund and am chair of the new projects committee.

How did you get your job?
After many years working as a television producer, writer, and documentary filmmaker, it’s time to make the plunge and work for myself.

What is the best professional lesson you learned at the J-School?
I learned the importance of accuracy and was imbued with a respect for the ethical principles that ideally guide the profession.

What advice do you have for current students?
Be flexible while holding tight to the journalistic standards of professionalism you have learned. For all the chaos in the industry, we still need fair and balanced reporters who are willing to go beyond the obvious in pursuit of the truth.

What is your favorite J-School memory?
The very cool friends I made was well as the late nights spent at KBIA literally cutting and splicing tape.
