David Estrada Orúe

David Estrada Orúe is a bilingual journalist from Guanacaste, Costa Rica. He has more than 10 years of experience working in television news.

In 2020, he returned to KOMU 8 News to join the staff as a producer with the morning show after working as a producer for a year for First Coast News in Jacksonville, Florida.

Previously, Estrada Orúe worked for Teletica, a national television station in San José, Costa Rica as a reporter. He has continued to collaborate with that station reporting from the United States during special coverage, including presidential elections from Costa Rica and the United States.

Estrada Orúe started his career in television news in 2009, working for Anexión TV, a local television station in his hometown of Guanacaste. He began working as a news photographer and technical director, and later became a reporter and anchor. During his six years with Anexión TV, Estrada Orúe had the opportunity to interview Costa Rican presidents, and covered the visit of President Barack Obama to Costa Rica. He was also instrumental in multiple live and live-to-tape special productions.

Estrada Orúe earned his master of arts in journalism from the University of Missouri in 2019. He earned his bachelor’s degree in radio, television and video, and political science from the University of the Ozarks in 2017.
