FRONTLINE names 2025-26 Missouri School of Journalism Reporting Fellow

BOSTON (Aug. 26, 2025) — This month, the PBS investigative series FRONTLINE, produced at GBH in Boston, welcomes the 2025-26 reporting fellow Skye Lucas, MA ’25.
Now in its third year, this year-long fellowship aims to expose new and emerging investigative journalists to FRONTLINE’s award-winning approach to documentary storytelling, immersing fellows into all phases of the series’ reporting and production process.
Lucas joins FRONTLINE’s newsroom after graduating from the Missouri School of Journalism with a focus on data journalism. During her studies at Mizzou, Lucas explored communications law and other factors influencing the broader media industry.
Lucas previously received a Real Arts internship from the University of Pennsylvania in 2021, interned and worked at The Flathead Beacon in Montana and worked as a local reporter covering housing matters for Missouri Business Alert. She also contributed to an investigative series on concussions for the Columbia Missourian, and to an upcoming series by Missouri Journalism School students.
“We’re so pleased to welcome Skye to our newsroom and look forward to seeing how her investigative storytelling skills can support our reporters and filmmakers.”
Raney Aronson-Rath, editor-in-chief and executive producer, FRONTLINE.
Over the next year, Lucas will have the opportunity to work alongside FRONTLINE’s filmmaking teams to aid in the development of the series’ acclaimed documentaries. This work will include contributing to the research and development of stories, reporting out leads, wrangling and analyzing data, helping set up interviews and shoots, as well as various tasks as documentaries undergo editing, vetting and post-production.
She will also have a chance to contribute to FRONTLINE projects on other platforms — including pursuing and crafting digital stories for FRONTLINE’s website and working with the series’ Local Journalism Initiative partners — local news outlets producing investigative journalism projects.
“Skye’s hands-on, Missouri Method training in reporting and research have prepared her well for this prestigious opportunity,” said David Kurpius, dean of the School of Journalism. “Her talent and experience make her a valuable addition to a team that delivers important, impactful journalism to the public.”
“We’re so pleased to welcome Skye to our newsroom and look forward to seeing how her investigative storytelling skills can support our reporters and filmmakers,” says Raney Aronson-Rath, editor-in-chief and executive producer of FRONTLINE. “We’re grateful to Jonathan Murray through The Murray/Reese Foundation, and to the Missouri School of Journalism for their generous, continued support of this fellowship.”
