J-Advising Session Schedules

Recommended: J-Advising: Special Edition schedule

Two dates and times are offered: May 23 or June 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. OR 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Advising Sessions (Students only): Students will participate in active learning by reviewing their J-School requirements. Academic advisors and peer coaches will guide students through the process of selecting and registering for their fall classes.

Student and Family Breakout Sessions: We will offer a variety of sessions specifically designed for students and family members to connect with J-School faculty, staff and peer coaches. Sessions will review the following topics:
- Key campus resources for student success, including J-School extended orientation modules and technology needs
- Degree requirements and career path options
- Opportunities for student involvement, leadership and study abroad
- Developing a personal communication and accountability plan for your family
- Students and family will have the option to select tours of J-School newsrooms

In-Person (9:30 to 11:30 a.m. OR 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the morning of day 2 after in-person Mizou Summer Welcome)

Advising Sessions (students only): Students will participate in active learning by understanding their J-School requirements. Academic advisors and peer coaches will guide students through the process of selecting and registering for fall classes.
Family Station: Parents and families will be directed to a designated family station where they can await the arrival of their students. Stationery will be available, providing an opportunity to write encouraging postcards to your students, which will be delivered to their dorm rooms during the first week of classes.

1.5 to 2 hours morning or afternoon; varies by date
