Kansas City-Area Alumni Welcome School’s New Dean
Columbia, Mo. (July 31, 2015) — More than 75 alumni and friends welcomed David Kurpius as the new dean of the Missouri School of Journalism in Kansas City on July 23.
The event was the first stop on a listening tour that Kurpius will conduct during the upcoming months. Beyond the School’s faculty and staff, he will meet with alumni, news media and strategic communication leadership and others to determine how best to strategically focus available resources.
Diane O’Byrne, BJ ’79, and Caitlin O’Byrne, BJ ’11, hosted the reception at the Indian Hills Country Club. Diane founded Competitive Resources, a marketing firm with a focus on sales training, more than 20 years ago. Caitlin is an account manager at CBIZ.
“I’m excited to lead the world’s No. 1 school of journalism and look forward to working with professionals and alumni to build on the storied success of the J-School,” Kurpius said.
