Edelman to Host Nov. 18 Journalism Alumni Reception in Chicago
Dean David Kurpius Will Present a Brief Program at 6:15 p.m.
Columbia, Mo. (Nov. 6, 2015) — Edelman will host a Missouri School of Journalism alumni reception at its Chicago office on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The free event begins at 5:30 p.m., with a brief program at 6:15 p.m. Beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Registration can be made online through the Mizzou Alumni Association‘s website and is requested by Wednesday, Nov. 11. Edelman is located in the Aon Center, 200 E. Randolph St. The event will be held in the boardroom on the 63rd floor. Dress is business casual. Chuck Kaiser, BJ ’93 and general manager, corporate affairs, in Edelman’s Chicago office will host the event.
The Chicago reception is part of a listening tour that new Dean David Kurpius is conducting since joining the School in July. The inaugural session was held in Kansas City, followed by others in San Francisco and St. Louis. Beyond the School’s faculty and staff, he will meet with alumni, news media and strategic communication leadership and others to determine how best to strategically focus available resources.
Before joining the School, Kurpius most recently served as associate vice chancellor for enrollment management at Louisiana State University. There, he managed 89 staff members and a $5.6 million operating budget. Kurpius also oversaw almost $305 million in state and federal financial aid and scholarships.
