Visiting Assistant Professor

ALICIA HAYWOOD started with the Missouri School of Journalism as a member of its convergence journalism and professions faculty team. She has since served as a consulting producer for the school’s NPR affiliate station KBIA-FM, as well as an editor for KOMU-TV, where she also steered creative direction of the NBC-affiliate’s OTT channel. 

She is an award-winning producer who has been working in the professional media industry for 29 years. Her convergence career includes productions for iHeartMedia, How Stuff Works, Fusion TV, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, Oprah Radio, Onion Studios, AOL/TechCrunch, ABC Radio Networks, The History Channel, and SiriusXM.  

Alicia is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of curriculum and instruction at Florida Atlantic University, where she also teaches a course on global citizenship. She earned a master’s degree in media studies and a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She also has a post-baccalaureate certificate for content creation for film, television, and digital entertainment media from the University of California-Los Angeles Extension. She has been an educator at the post-secondary level since 2008.
