- J-School: When writing about the School, the first reference should either be: The Missouri School of Journalism or School of Journalism. On second reference you can use J-School, but the preference is the School (with School capitalized).
- RJI: On first reference, please always use the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute. Second reference is RJI. If it makes sense, it should read: The Missouri School of Journalism’s Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute.
- Novak: The Missouri School of Journalism’s Novak Leadership Institute. Second reference: NLI.
