St. Louis Alumni, Friends to Welcome New Dean at Sept. 9 Reception
The Event Will Be Held from 6-8 p.m. at the Forest Hills Country Club in Chesterfield
Columbia, Mo. (Sept. 2, 2015) — St. Louis area alumni and friends of the Missouri School of Journalism will have the opportunity to network and meet new Dean David Kurpius at an upcoming reception. It will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Forest Hills Country Club, 35 Forest Club Drive, Chesterfield. A brief program will begin at 6:45 p.m.
Dress is business casual. Registration can be made online through the Mizzou Alumni Association‘s website and is requested by Friday, Sept. 4.
The event will be the fourth stop on Kurpius’s listening tour since joining the School on July 1. More than 300 have attended an event in Kansas City and two receptions in San Francisco.
Kurpius most recently served as a professor and administrator at Louisiana State University for almost 20 years. As associate vice chancellor for enrollment management, he managed 89 staff members and a $5.6 million operating budget. He also oversaw almost $305 million in state and federal financial aid and scholarships. Kurpius received a bachelor’s degree in telecommunication from Indiana University in 1986 and a master’s in 1995 and a doctorate in 1997 in mass communication from the University of Wisconsin.
Hosting the event will be Richard, BJ ’78, and Jody, BJ ’78, Feldman and David, BJ ’91, and Amy, BS ED ’91, Linenbroker.
Richard Feldman is a member of Husch Blackwell‘s Real Estate, Development and Construction team and the firm’s Partner Board. He has guided companies in developing real estate projects in excess of $1 billion, including office, industrial and retail projects such as entertainment amphitheaters, wind tunnels and riverboat casinos.
Jody Feldman parlayed her Missouri journalism degree into a brief stint in advertising then into a career she never knew she always wanted to do. Today, she is the award-winning author of “The Gollywhopper Games” (HarperCollins/Greenwillow) and three other children’s novels.
David Linenbroker is also a member of Husch Blackwell’s Real Estate, Development and Construction team. He advises large companies as they seek to achieve their property goals. Linenbroker also represents lenders in commercial real estate, agricultural and asset-based loans.
