DAVID REED is the program director for Alfred Friendly Press Partners, which provides hands-on training at the Missouri School of Journalism and in U.S. and international newsrooms for professional journalists and news organizations from countries with underdeveloped media and emerging democracies. The nonprofit organization based at Mizzou has coordinated six-month fellowships for more than 300 journalists from 80 countries since 1984. Reed, BJ ’83, previously was an adjunct instructor and an editor at affiliated publications in the journalism school. He worked for The Associated Press for 17 years in various positions and locations and for Radio Free Europe for six years in Prague before becoming group editor for a magazine publishing company.
