The award recognizes outstanding staff members who go above and beyond what is expected. The Staff Advisory Council selects one person each month for this honor. Toigo receives a plaque, goodie bags from Printing Services and the Staff Advisory Council, gift cards from Campus Dining Services and The Mizzou Store, a free month at the Mizzou Rec Center and special recognition at the Staff Recognition Week in May.

Toigo learned of his selection when members of the Council surprised him with the announcement during a faculty-staff holiday potluck luncheon at the School.

Toigo’s responsibilities span a broad range of activities, including serving as building coordinator and handling the hiring of new staff and related human resources needs.

His initiative, problem-solving abilities, communication skills and overall administration of responsibilities help the School in numerous ways, said Lynda Kraxberger, Toigo’s supervisor. Kraxberger serves as associate dean for undergraduate studies and administration.

“I can also always count on him to seek out the wisest course of action regardless of the task and to follow through with minimal instruction,” she said. “He also understands how small acts of kindness can go a long way toward creating a work environment where people feel valued and appreciated.”

Toigo earned his master’s degree in education leadership and policy from MU in 2014 and his bachelor’s in science from Truman State University in 2004.
