School Recognizes 349 Graduates
Columbia, Mo. (May 17, 2004) — The Missouri School of Journalism recognized 349 graduates at its spring commencement ceremonies held Saturday, May 15, at the Hearnes Center.
There were 87 students who received a graduate degree. Seven received the doctor of philosophy degree and the rest earned a master of arts degree. The School recognized its first online journalism degree graduate: Ebony Reed, a reporter at The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Ohio, received her master of arts degree with a focus in media management. Reed also earned her bachelor of journalism degree from the School in 2000.
There were 262 undergraduates who received the Bachelor of Journalism degree: 94 students studied advertising; 51, broadcast; 60, magazine; 42 news-editorial; and 15 photojournalism. The class represented 30 states, with the highest number of graduates coming from Missouri, Illinois and Texas. One who studied magazine was from Germany.
