Columbia, Mo. (Sept. 5, 2012) — Professional development and networking opportunities were in abundance for current, new and transfer students interested in studying journalism during the annual Fall Welcome event sponsored by the Missouri School of Journalism.
Approximately 500 students visited with representatives of 30 journalism-related organizations while enjoying Tiger Stripe ice cream. There are options for every interest, from the Online News Association and Student Society for News Design to the National Association of Black Journalists and Society of Professional Journalists.
The groups host speakers who discuss issues in the field, plan site trips, receive help in internship and job searches as well as network with other members.
“I’m looking forward to working with world-class journalists,” freshman Kevin Modelski said. “It’s a great place to be involved.”
